– Session 1
Club leader:

Andy Shi
Hello, I am Andy and I am a Grade 8 GATE student. One of my hobbies is to solve the Rubik’s cube. It is really fun and enjoyable. I attended a series of provincial, national, and international cubing competitions. My PB (personal best) is top 10 in Alberta. Cubing is helpful for my math learning. I have won several awards, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Honor roll in a few math contests, e.g. Calgary elementary school math contest, Sunshine education Math Contest, Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition and AMC8.
Solving a Rubik’s cube is not only fun but also has many benefits. It helps the hands, eyes, and the brain development. It can improve problem solving ability, thinking ability and logic. It can cut down screen time for children. I will mainly teach how to solve the 3×3 cube in this class. If we have extra time and you are interested, I can also teach more advanced techniques and other cubes (2×2 to 7×7, megaminx, pyraminx etc.)
Things to Prepare:

Please make sure that you have a 3×3 cube for class! If you would like, you may also bring any other cubes you may have. Andy is more than happy to help you solve them! Have fun!

Solving a Rubik’s cube is not only fun but also has many benefits. It helps the hands, eyes, and the brain development. It can improve problem solving ability, thinking ability, logic and memory. This time I will work with students who already know how to solve 3×3 cube and are interested in solving faster. In this class, I will be teaching improving cross speed, F2L (First 2 layers), 2 look OLL (orienting last layer), and 2 look PLL (permuting last layer). I will be also talking about competitions and some extra helpful tips to become faster.
Let’s play together and have fun !
