Yaozhong (Jessi) Zhang
Yaozhong Zhang (Jessi) is a Grade 12 student at Western Canada High School and is enrolled in the full IB program. He has Currently finished Math 30-1 IB. Jessi has averaged 98-100 in all his high school math classes . Jessi loves writing math contests and has won the silver medal in Math Kangaroo in Grade 5; He ranked the top 1% of participants in the 2020 Canadian Senior Mathematics Competition (CSMC); Ranked the top 0.6% of participants in the 2021 Fermat Contest and Obtained a Fermat school champion medal for individual efforts. He is also in the top 2.3% of participants in the 2021 Hypatia contest. Jessi Received the 2021 Waterloo math promissory scholarship from the University of Waterloo’s faculty of mathematics in May 2021 and got a student invitation from the University of Waterloo to attend 2021 Exploring Mathematics and Computer Science Workshop in July 2021. He has also received a Certificate of Distinction for the Annual Sir Isaac Newton Exam in 2020 and a Certificate of Distinction for the Annual CHEM 13 News Exam in 2021. Jessi has passed USACO bronze with full marks. He scored 1560 in SAT and in the 99th percentile of students in 2021.

The math kangaroo contest is one of the largest competitions in the world. This course aims to provide students with the thinking methods necessary to excel in such a contest.
