Jason Xie
Jason Xie is a grade 12 student at Sir Winston Churchill High School enrolled in the IB Diploma Programme. He is passionate about bringing creative and engaging learning opportunities to student communities across Calgary. Currently, Jason is the President of the Calgary Science Spelling Challenge, a yearly competition designed to spark the interest of junior high students in advanced STEM subjects. Jason is also a Math Club and Physics Club executive at Sir Winston Churchill High School, developing students’ analytical skills on a weekly basis. He is a part of the Principal’s Advisory Council at his school and advocates for student health and wellness. Jason was selected for the 2021 Alberta Innovates HYRS Program at the U of C and conducted frontline research during this time. He volunteers at the Wing Kei Care Center for the elderly, the Mustard Seed Foundation, and the Calgary Food Bank. In his spare time, Jason enjoys biking and playing badminton. He is a trumpet player in his school band and pursues piano as a hobby.
