French Lessons for Beginner

(Session 1)

Instructors:

Cindy Li

Cindy is currently a grade 10 AP student at William Aberhart High School. She was in the late French immersion program in junior high and is now able to read, write, and speak in French. Outside of school, she is interested in literature, science, and sports. Specifically, she is a swimmer and participates in a volleyball club. In junior high, she and her debate partner got second place in a bilingual debate tournament.

Elliot Li

Elliot is attending William Aberhart High School and is in grade 10. They went to Branton Junior high before advancing to high school, and that is where they started taking French immersion. They have been learning French since grade 7 and plan to continue taking French immersion until graduation. Outside of school, Elliot is interested in art, literature, theater, and social activism. They are invested in creating equality and works toward combating the racism, homophobia , and transphobia that exists in society. In their 15 years of existing, they have advocated for the the inclusion of transgender children in schools and for action against climate change.


About:

In these upcoming lessons, we will teach many basic French concepts. We will be covering topics such as conjugation, basic vocabulary, numbers, and grammar rules so that you learn the basics of the French language. We will start from the bottom and work all the way up to the final concept. We hope this course will encourage you to be more interested in the French language. We look forward to meeting all of you soon!

Jeffery Li

Jeffery Li is a grade 8 student at Calgary French and International School. He has been learning French for 10 years at this full French immersion school. Jeffery is fluent in reading and speaking French, and is also competent in understanding and writing in French. He has also been to a summer camp in Paris to gain some French experience. Outside of school, Jeffery enjoys playing basketball and swimming.

Stephen Li

Stephen Li is a grade 8 student in Branton Junior High in the late French immersion program. Outside of school he likes swimming, playing soccer and basketball.
